Chocolate candy dip without shortning?

Hi, making my yearly Christmas bonbons, and I would like to make the dip without shortening. Does anybody have any recipe to melt the chocolate (I use a dbl boiler) and have it thin enough to dip the candy without using shortning? I use chocolate chips for the chocolate. Is there a way to thin it, and make it dippable so it goes on thin, but hardens well? Just so gross to think of all that added fat if I can find another way instead. the insides are enough calories as it is! lol Thanks!!
