How do I identify an old acoustic?

I'm incredibly new at playing guitar so bare with me. The one I found is probably in similar condition to my dads guitar. It looks roughly 20 to 30 years old. The body isn't as big as a normal acoustic. It has a steel reinforced neck. It reminds me of a resonator but I know it isn't.
