Sri Lord Shiva as the snake charmer?

The cobra is worshiped by devotees of Sri Lord Shiva. Is the ability to charm the cobra come from Sri Lord Shiva? Because the Saivite worship Sri Lord Shiva as the Supreme Yogi, and Yogis use self-hypnosis. Are there any stories in Hinduism where Sri Lord Shiva hypnotizes the cobra? Are there stories where He hypnotizes the other Gods, such as Sri Lord Ganesha and Sri Lord Vishnu? And could I pray to Sri Lord Shiva to develope powers of hypnosis? Thanks for your help.
